The Associated General Contractors of Ohio is a commercial construction trade association governed and directed by contractors. It is a full-service AGC Chapter and is chartered by the AGC of America, a national trade association located in Washington D.C. Its structure in Ohio includes seven self-funded, self-governed organizations in the major metropolitan construction markets throughout the state.
As construction’s chief statewide spokesperson, AGC has an unmatched record of sponsoring pro-industry legislation in Ohio. The association and its members strive to improve the construction industry by promoting fair practices, working with public and private owners to stimulate construction markets, assisting with labor relations, and providing education and training services.
The association has been in existence for more than thirty years and its membership is comprised of the top general contractors in the Ohio area—-in addition to quality subcontractors and suppliers. All of its members embody the AGC principles of skill, responsibility and integrity.
The Ohio Contractors Association (OCA) was founded in 1918 on the guiding principles of providing support, unity and leadership to the heavy/highway and utility industry in Ohio for the success of its membership. For more than 80 years as Ohio’s pre-eminent construction-trade association, the OCA has been a unifying force in state’s heavy/highway and utility industry, today providing support and leadership to nearly 700 members statewide. It is an association whose members are actively involved in building highways, roads, streets and bridges; constructing and expanding utilities; digging ditches, laying sewer and water lines, and other speciality work...all of which improve the safety and quality of life for Ohioans. The OCA holds the heavy/highway charter from the associated General Contractors of America (AGC) for the state of Ohio, and also serves the Ohio state chapter for the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA). OCA members also have a significant impact on Ohio’s economy. The heavy/highway and utility industry contributes $1.5 billon a year to the state’s economy and proudly employs as many as 150,000 workers. Many of those workers are members of The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 and its branches. The Ohio Contractors Association is proud of its long and cooperative affiliation with the International Union of Operating Engineers as well as its role in developing and maintaining one of the premier apprenticeship and training programs in the heavy/highway- and utilities-construction industry. The Construction Employers Association (CEA), serving the northeast Ohio construction industry since 1916, recognizes the importance of joint apprenticeship-training programs and is an active participant on 14 building and construction trades committees. Apprenticeship training provides the needed skills, quality and productive workforce of the future, as expected by those owners and developers who need construction services. The best value for the construction dollar is to use union trades that provide apprenticeship training. |
